Mike Brown

I spent a few hours last night really studying into the Michael Brown case, listening to all the different perspectives on the case and really reflecting on how I really fell about what is happening in our country and if I should even care.

Everyone is so emotionally charged about what happened that my initial reaction was "maybe I shouldn't give my energy to this, maybe I should ignore it, maybe its a distraction."  So many times we try to ignore what is happening in the world around us, to the people around us, and even to our immediate family.  At times it goes as far as ignoring what is being done to us directly as a result.  This is unhealthy.  You cannot pretend that things doesn't exist and that they don't effect you.  Yes, every little thing that occurs on this planet affects you to some degree because we are all connected.  This doesn't mean that you have to give you attention to every little thing, especially when you have no power to change/counteract it.  However what is going on in America right now demands our attention as fellow human beings.  Black people in America are ANGRY and rightfully so.  Americans are ANGRY.  Foreigners are making a mockery of us.

There are those who see this as a race issue.  I won't argue that.  There are those who see this as a Police Brutality issue.  I won't argue that either.  There are also those that see this as a Government issue and/or movements toward tyranny for our country. Personally, I see all those angles as being legit,  even moreso the issue of race, but more than anything I see this as an issue with Humanity.

Where is the respect for human life?  The violence, the disrespect, the lies, the cover ups, the looting,  the vandalism, the abuse of authority.  I saw Obama's speech on video and it was disheartening to see him reading some lines with indifference, some with care, and others with "this is bullshit" written in his expression.  It is really time for us to face our issues as humans… to have compassion for one another and stop allowing this SYSTEM to SYSTEMATICALLY destroy our HUMANITY.  I'm speaking to the politicians, to the hurting families, to the races, government, and police.  TAKE  A STAND… COMPASSION or HEARTLESSNESS.

WE ARE NOT MACHINES.
WE ARE PEOPLE.
BE COMPASSIONATE.
